Phase One of BBCC project on track for 2021 handover
THE Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) project is looking to hand over the first phase of the project by 2021.
BBCC is a joint venture between Eco World Development Group Berhad, UDA Holdings Berhad and the Employees Provident Fund Board.
The first phase of the project includes 43 levels of strata office (The Stride), Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport and an entertainment hub that consists of Zepp KL by Sony, Malaysia Grand Bazaar and Regus.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said he was impressed with the progress and traffic plans that Eco World had proposed and would give his full support towards the completion of the project.
“A lot of thought has been put into this project especially the tunnels that they will be constructing to disperse traffic in this area,” he said during a briefing on the project at BBCC’s sales gallery in Kuala Lumpur by Eco World business development (integrated commercial development) senior manager Raymond Lee on Monday (Nov 19).
Phase One will also see the construction of traffic tunnels to Jalan Galloway, from Jalan Hang Tuah and another on Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah together with a new transportation hub to link the Hang Tuah LRT station and the Merdeka MRT station.
Khalid said he hopes BBCC would turn into another iconic spot in the city after taking over the former Pudu Jail prison site.
After the briefing, Khalid was given a tour around the gallery before being taken to the 19.8 acre project site to witness the construction progress of the planned development by Eco World Development Group Bhd chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, Uda Holdings managing director Datuk Ahmad Abu Bakar and Mitsui Fudosan Asia deputy managing director and chief regional officer to Malaysia Takehito Fukui.
