BBCC project to include Sony’s ‘Zepp’ live event hall

Kuala Lumpur: The proposed Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) mixed development will include a 2,500 capacity live event hall under Sony’s ‘Zepp’ branding as its entertainment component.
BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, a consortium partnership among UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA), Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) and the Employees Provident Fund Board (EPF), today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zepp Hall Network Inc (Zepp) for opportunties in the entertainment component of the BBCC project.
Zepp is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc (Sony Music).
It currently has six concert halls spread across Japan, which play host to many international artists holding live concerts. UDA Holdings Bhd Chairman Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani said Zepp was invited for the MoU for its unique business model as well as its venue management and event promotion expertise.
“Zepp’s vast network will attract world-class international artists from all over the world to come and perform in Kuala Lumpur,” Johari said at the signing event.
Zepp will take about two months to study the viability of setting up a live event hall in BBCC, he said.
Johari said the master plan proposed for the regeneration and redevelopment of the 7.85-hectare former Pudu Jail site will comprise an integrated development comprising strata offices, office towers, a hotel, serviced residences and a lifestyle mall, which includes a grand bazaar, a retail mall, food and beverages and entertainment components. – Bernama
